Peggy Emro, MA, PT, IMTC
Clinical Director
peggyemro@healingsourcept.com
I am a licensed physical therapist and have practiced in New York since 1976. I received my physical therapy training from the University of Connecticut and spent my early career working in hospital inpatient, outpatient and home care programs. I loved the challenge of working in a dynamic setting that provided me experience with diverse and complex medical conditions in all age populations. I progressively assumed management responsibility, culminating in positions as Director of Rehabilitation overseeing PT, OT, Speech, Wound Care, Pulmonary Rehabilitation and Headache Management Services. During this time I received my Masters in Ergonomics and Biomechanics from New York University and consulted in ergonomics in the industrial arena.
Throughout my career I have been dedicated to continued learning to advance my skills, but my passion was truly ignited when I began my training in Integrative Manual Therapy in 1992. With my certification long behind me, I continue to keep abreast of the most advanced curricula in IMT. In 2000, I partnered with the developer of IMT, Sharon Giammatteo, PhD, PT, to establish CenterIMT New York, one of the first clinical sites in the CIMT network (now known as The Institute for Integrative Manual Therapy). In 2010 I transitioned my practice to become Healing Source Physical Therapy.
I have had the privilege to teach IMT courses for Northeast Seminars and for Dialogues in Contemporary Rehabilitation. As a founding member and first Ethics Chair of the Integrative Manual Therapy Association, I had the responsibility to establish the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice for IMT. I currently serve as Governance Chair for the Association.
Beyond my professional life, I have an avid interest in the study of consciousness and have been a member of the Institute for Noetic Sciences for many years. I have practiced meditation since 1990, including various forms of energy meditation. I have been certified in hypnotherapy and have studied Tai Chi, essential oil therapy, EFT, Theta and Esoteric Healing.
